Arry’s Roofing Employee Spotlight: Chuck Ankrom

chuckOne of the most experienced members of the Arry’s Roofing team is Chuck Ankrom, Senior Project Manager for commercial and residential projects. Chuck is a Florida native and has lived in Tarpon Springs since 1978. He has been employed by Arry’s Roofing for the past 17 years, and previously worked for the company as an independent roofing contractor. This close relationship is his favorite part of working for Arry’s. “Knowing the owners for the past 30 years is like working for family,” he says.

“If we were to say anyone in the company is truly ‘family,’ it would be Mr. Chuck!” says Matthew Housh, Vice President of Arry’s Roofing. “Chuck and my dad have worked together for over 30 years. He is one of the most passionate and loyal team members within the organization. His knowledge is vast and his experience great, which makes him one of our best assets on highly technical projects. We are so thankful for Chuck’s commitment and success that he continues to share with us.”

Chuck’s job responsibilities include listening to customer concerns and catering to their needs, and he believes his greatest strengths are his loyalty and faith in God. He feels Arry’s Roofing is set apart from other roofing contractors in Tampa, FL, by a commitment to integrity. “We do the right thing when no one is around to watch,” he says.

Chuck has been married to his wife, Monica, for 19 years, and is most proud of the relationship they share. The couple has three beautiful daughters: Alicia, 25, McKenzie, 19, and Tiffany, 15. The family also includes Mollie, a yellow Lab, and Elijah, a male German Shepard – “to offset all the estrogen in the house,” he jokes.

In his free time, Chuck enjoys golfing, fishing, spear fishing and fantasy football. His favorite team is the Philadelphia Eagles. His favorite place to dine out is Mystic Fish, and his favorite TV shows include 24 and The Blacklist. If he could go anywhere for a day, he would head to Alaska to walk the glaciers.

Chuck describes his long-term goal as to “live life with overflowing joy and peace.” If he could give others one piece of advice about life, it would be to seek Christ.

Thanks, Chuck, for being an important part of the Arry’s Roofing team!

Arry’s Roofing Employee Spotlight: Ronald Pineda

RonaldRonald Pineda is a new face on the Arry’s Roofing team, having started in his position as Project Manager in January 2014. His job responsibilities include caring for clients, being knowledgeable about products and representing the company well. The Merida, Venezuela, native believes his greatest strengths are his ability to assimilate any accent and “remember everything but where I put my wallet!” He appreciates the opportunity he has to work for an exemplary family and serve the needs of the community.

“Arry’s Roofing is one-of-a-kind, from its product to its employees,” says Ronald. “You go with Arry’s, you won’t ever need another roofing contractor in Tampa Bay.”

“Ronald was an easy addition to the Arry’s team and family, as he was a family friend for many years,” says Matthew Housh, Vice President of Arry’s Roofing. “He has all the intangibles that we would look for in a project manager: integrity, work ethic, passionate, caring, kind, funny, relatable and humble in presentation. Although he did not have much Tampa Bay roofing experience, we knew he had the character and personality for the job, and that he would succeed. Another great aspect is that he is fluent in Spanish, so we can now relate to the Hispanic population. We are very excited about having Ronald on the team!”

Ronald is married to his best friend and the couple has a 15-month-old son, Miquel Alejandro. “They rock my world,” he says. The little family enjoys taking short trips to Orlando to explore and be with family, or Sarasota to enjoy a relaxing beach day and indulge in food.

In his free time, Ronald enjoys fishing, NFL football (he’s a huge Peyton Manning fan) and spending time with family. His favorite place to dine out is anywhere with good company and chicken wings.

One of Ronald’s most important long-term goals is to establish a business that he can leave behind for his children. If he could give others one piece of advice about life, it would be this: “Life is too short to be angry. Forgive.”

Welcome to the Arry’s Roofing family, Ronald!

Arry’s Roofing Employee Spotlight: Brad Blanton

Brad BlantonBrad Blanton, Commercial and Residential Roofing Consultant, has been with the Arry’s family for just over a year. Brad is a Midwest boy originally from Connersville, Indiana, and currently resides in Trinity. In addition to providing a home or business owner with the best possible experience with Arry’s Roofing, his job responsibilities include educating them on the Tampa Bay roofing system that best suits their needs. “My favorite thing about working for Arry’s Roofing is that we are all a family and everyone lifts each other up to perform the best they possibly can,” he says.

Brad considers his faith his greatest strength, and he appreciates the high standards of his employer. “The one thing that sets Arry’s Roofing apart from other roofing contractors in the Tampa Bay area is principles. The Housh family’s belief that you should conduct business with honesty and integrity, as well as provide the best possible product on the market, filters down to every employee.”

“Brad has been such a great addition to the Arry’s team,” says Matthew Housh, Vice President of Arry’s Roofing. “He is very passionate about what he does and wonderful with customers. Brad always takes the time to communicate effectively to ensure that he not only delivers solutions, but the best possible solution for our customers. He is extremely hard-working, has the utmost integrity and a great sense of humor!”

Brad is most proud of his fiancé, Haley. “She works full-time, goes to law school and still finds the time to be there for me,” he says. The couple is planning a January wedding. Their long-term goals are to “raise a family and grow old knowing we’ve raised our children to be good people.”

During his down time, Brad enjoys spending time with members of his church, playing golf and cooking. He also enjoys cheering on Notre Dame football, Indiana Hoosier basketball and the Chicago Cubs. If he could go anywhere for a day, naturally he would head to Augusta National and “tee it up until the sun went down!”

When it comes to TV, Brad never misses Sportscenter and Chopped. Currently his favorite place to dine out is Grill One Sixteen, but he acknowledges that will change.

Brad would give others the following piece of advice: “Can all your worries add a single moment to your life? Don’t worry about what the future holds, but know who holds it.” Thanks, Brad, for being an important member of the Arry’s family!

5 Ways to Create a Merrier December

The holiday season is certainly a hectic time for most of us. There’s so much to take care of, in addition to all the usual duties we have at home and at work. Whether you’re running a household or a small business or both, you understand how limited time can be every December. So while you’re keeping things going and squeezing in time to decorate and shop for gifts, it’s important to keep in mind ways to truly enjoy the spirit of the season.

The following list contains five ways to maintain the holiday spirit during the next few weeks. You can also invite your family to participate. As you look at this particular list, you may find your own ideas starting to flow.

1. Home safety
This is the most important one of the list so we’ll start with it. Once a week, take the time to ensure everything is functioning properly in your Tampa Bay home, especially if it’s heavily decorated inside and out. An abundance of lights and decorations can create electrical issues or become hazards if not properly placed away from foot traffic.

Do these rooftop decorations look safe to you?

2. Charitable causes
Rather than attempt to give something to every charitable organization you encounter, choose one charity to support as a family. The contribution could be monetary, it could consist of volunteering your time, or it might involve a donation of items, such as pillows and blankets to a local shelter. Find a cause that’s personal to you and enjoy the spirit of giving.

3. Reach out to someone out of touch
You may have friends or family members you have not spoken to in a long time. The holiday season is a wonderful time to check on those people, let them know they’re remembered, or mend a broken relationship with a loved one.

4. Thank a business
Write a personal thank you letter to a local business that satisfied you this year. A handwritten note is a lovely gesture, but you can also email the company or share your praise on its Facebook page or any social media page hosted by the company.

5. Make time for yourself
Sure, while it is a season of giving, it’s still okay to devote time to yourself. For some people, that may mean spending the day with a favorite activity.

At Arry’s Roofing, we’ll continue delivering plenty of holiday spirit along with the exceptional roof repair and replacement services we provide year round. If you need emergency help or want to talk about a roofing project you’d like to schedule for 2013, call us at 727-938-9565. Be sure to visit us on Facebook too.

Thankful in Tampa Bay

You may have noticed some people using their Facebook status every day to tell you what they’re thankful for. It may be the love of family or the birth of a new grandchild. It could be good news related to their health or a job offer finally came through. Whatever the reason, we hope November has been a month with many good things happening for you too.

As the holiday season starts making demands on you and your time, it’s possible you haven’t taken a moment to consider what you’re thankful for. But if you get started, you may find your list grows quickly as you pause to think about each area of your life. You could start with your family, move on to your work and then continue on to your community.

Family
Do any of the following apply to you?
I’m thankful for my spouse.
I’m thankful for my children.
I’m thankful for my parents.

Work
Do any of the following fit you?
I’m thankful for steady employment.
I’m thankful for a satisfying job.
I’m thankful for being able to pay my bills.

Community
Can any of these be added to your list?
I’m thankful for good neighbors.
I’m thankful for the peace in my city.
I’m thankful for excellent resources nearby.

As one of those nearby resources for home and business owners, Arry’s Roofing is thankful for our valued customers who rely on us in a time of need. Whether they are dealing with a roof damaged by a storm or needing to replace one due to aging, each decision maker’s choice to begin working with Arry’s allows us to provide a residence or commercial building with an exceptional roofing system in Tampa Bay. Our commitment to roofing excellence is only possible due to the customers who entrust us with installing the most important system of protection for a home or business.

Many of these customers have acknowledged their gratitude in writing and we’ve shared those thoughts on our Reviews page. Others have told us on camera why they trust Arry’s Roofing and return time after time. For their time and effort to share their experiences, we are thankful. All year long.

Avoiding Tampa Bay Roofing Disasters

With a population of more than 4 million people in the Tampa Bay area, it’s likely that at least few dozen people are making a roofing decision this week. If you’re one of them and you haven’t handled a roof repair or roof replacement project before, you’ll want to make sure you’re making informed decisions along the way. As a local expert with more than 25 years in the business, we can guide you through a few simple things to consider before getting a roofing project underway.

WHO IS DOING THE JOB?
If you’re thinking that you’ll handle re-roofing alone, consider the value of your home’s best system of protection. A well-made, properly installed roof is vital to keep the structure and your home’s contents safe. An amateur approach to the job could lead to common mistakes and failure to anticipate the kinds of problems that can occur due to weather here in Tampa Bay. In addition, an uninsured roofer who has an accident on your property could leave you responsible for costs related to injuries and property damage.

WHAT MATERIALS WILL BE USED?
Proper installation will not make up for the decision to use low-grade materials. Another common issue you may encounter with some contractors is failure to protect the roof deck and install additional leak barriers. The ideal materials are part of an integrated system, made specifically for use together on the same roof.

WHAT PROTECTION WILL YOU GET?
Spending thousands of dollars on a roof replacement in Tampa Bay should provide you with coverage for the materials and workmanship. A solid warranty from the manufacturer and the roofing company itself provides peace of mind for years to come. If you’re getting no warranty, or one that covers a period of less than 10 years, it’s wise to keep shopping for another roofing company.

When you’re ready for roof repair and roof replacement in Tampa Bay, rely only on experts in the field. Arry’s Roofing has been providing superior service to your neighbors as a GAF Master Elite Roofing Contractor with a 20-year Workmanship Warranty of all of our services. Call us today at 727-938-9565 to schedule for free estimate.

Tropical Storm Preparations

Tropical Storm Isaac is expected to hit the Tampa Bay area early on Monday morning August 27.

As your fellow Tampa Bay residents, our concern during the approach of a tropical storm turns to the personal safety of our family, friends and neighbors. The news that Tropical Storm Isaac is expected to arrive here after the weekend makes preparation a priority in the next two days. For people who have experienced this type of situation before, they may have already begun getting ready for the potential damaging winds and heavy rains. But there are still a great many people who have yet to get started so we want to take a moment to help you get started.

There are three phases to consider. Understanding your responsibility during each phase is important in protecting yourself, your family and your home. The following material was carefully prepared by the weather experts at the Weather Channel as a helpful resource for situations like the one we’re about to face. Take a few minutes to reach about each phase today.

DURING THE STORM

AFTER THE STORM

Once your preparations are done and you have time, be sure to check in on others on your street to make sure they are prepared for the damaging weather conditions that accompany a tropical storm. Your neighbors, especially ones with a disability or the elderly, will appreciate your thoughtfulness. If you don’t have your neighbor’s phone number already, make sure you get it in order to check on them in the hours following the worst of the tropical weather.

The family at Arry’s Roofing will also be using this time to prepare for a worst case scenario but we are available to take your calls if you have urgent questions. We want you to be safe, first and foremost, and as informed as you can be. To reach us, call 727-938-9565.

Satisfied Customers Say It All about Arry’s Roofing

The Tampa Bay Home Show at Tropicana Field in June gave us an opportunity to meet many new potential customers. Some of them will be calling on us to repair and replace roofs at their Gulf Coast homes this summer. But we’re especially pleased and grateful to be able to hear the appreciation of customers we have served in the past.

These customers were quick to share with our own Matt Housh the joy they experienced having Arry’s Roofing provide expert installation, high quality materials and exceptional customer service. One customer even pointed out that he’s hired Arry’s to handle roofing projects at four different homes.

One enthusiastic woman complimented our insulation work, calling it “impeccable.” She went on to say, “You were not messy. You did not crack our drywall ceiling.” Sometimes it’s the things you don’t do that impress a customer most.

Gary Lewis, board member of Sun Ketch Town Homes, is another pleased customer we chatted with at Tropicana Field. He explained, “Arry’s started a project for us in November re-roofing 13 of our buildings.” Mr. Lewis had plenty to add right away. “They did a beautiful job,” he said. “We’re really happy with the outcome. The crews were fantastic, and we really appreciate the work that Arry’s did for us.”

Palm Harbor’s Shane Schwarzkopf also shared praise for Arry’s Roofing commenting on the entire process, from the initial estimate through completion. He said, “They did a fantastic job. They did what they said they were going to do, and I was very pleased with the overall product.” We’re glad we kept you smiling, Shane.

Summer is a terrific time to experience what these satisfied Arry’s Roofing customers are talking about. With hurricane season in place, there’s no better time to ensure your roof isn’t unnecessarily vulnerable. Plus, Arry’s Roofing is offering a summer promotion of Six Months Same as Cash. Call us today to get your roof repairs or replacement project started.

A Roof Replacement Plan During Hurricane Season

Nobody rings in hurricane season. It doesn’t arrive with fanfare and fireworks, like New Year’s Eve. It quietly slips in and goes unnoticed, except by the news media which uses the season’s arrival to cheerfully tell us the names of the storms that could end up destroying our property and altering our lives.

Hurricane season is underway and we’ve gotten a taste of it quickly. Less than a month after it started, Tropical Storm Debby arrived to give Florida plenty of weather action to stay busy. Strong winds may have ripped shingles off your neighbor’s home. Heavy rainfall may have flooded some of the areas you planned to drive through. But hopefully, you remained safe throughout the experience.

We’re a long way from the end of the Atlantic hurricane season which ends on November 30. How you prepare for the next potential disaster between now and then is of the utmost importance. After all, your roof is your home’s most important system of protection so if your roof goes, everything else could easily follow.

If you believe your roof is not functioning at its best, for whatever reason, replacement timing becomes critical. Your roof’s ability to withstand severe storms, the kind generated by tropical weather systems, is a must during hurricane season. A compromised, weak and vulnerable roof provides no true protection and getting it replaced quickly could spare you property damage expense later on.

There is time to address and remedy those roofing concerns in Tampa Bay. By calling Arry’s Roofing, a 25+ year veteran of the industry, you can get an expert on site to evaluate your existing roof and make a recommendation. In some cases, repairs may be all that’s necessary to return your roof to tip-top shape. So make the call now before the next potential disaster finds its way to Florida.

What’s Hot in Tampa Bay

Looking at the headline might prompt you to think of hot summer attractions, hot spots for nightlife or even a hot new restaurant in Tampa, St. Pete or Clearwater. There’s no shortage of hotness here on the Gulf Coast now or year round. Imagine if Stefon from Saturday Night Live visited us.

“Tampa’s hottest club is … Mangroves.”

You get the idea. But what’s hot in Tampa Bay just may your house. Okay, maybe the ice cream isn’t melting in the freezer. Maybe the cool beverage you’re sipping stays cool all the way to the bottom of the glass. But if you’re making more trips to the thermostat or lowering the auto setting, something is clearly wrong.

A dramatic change in your cooling bills recently could be an indication that you need a new roof. If it’s been several years since your last roof inspection, at the very least getting a professional to evaluate your roof’s condition is a wise move. This free, no-obligation inspection is the best way to rule out a roofing issue as the reason for higher cooling costs. It’s also a way to remain proactive regarding your home’s most important system of protection.

Arry’s Roofing provides a free inspection and recommends you call a reputable contractor like us to handle it every 3-5 years. Staying a step ahead of developing damage could spare you the expense of total roof replacement prematurely. Beyond changes in cooling (and heating) bills, other key danger signals may include water leakage that appears in the attic or in the ceilings of rooms below the attic space, missing, cracked, worn or damaged shingles, damaged flashing around vents, chimneys, eaves, and skylights, and sagging roof sections or sagging gutters.

Contact Arry’s Roofing at 727.362.2230 to schedule your roofing inspection. Once we’ve finished a project for you, be sure to like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter @ArrysRoofing.
