An article Jennifer McCabe wrote for the Air Force News Service revealed that the Air Force Civil Engineering Center at Goodfellow AFB in San Angelo, Texas attempted an integrated roofing system for the base’s security forces building. The project involved installing a fresh layer of metal roofs and locking them in with a solar roofing array, among other features. Read Full Article

Recent Heavy Rain Has Tampa Roofing Contractors’ Phones Ringing

a2The recent heavy downpour in South Florida proves that it doesn’t take a cyclone to bring about record-breaking rainfall. Even though Tropical Storm Dorian barely touched the tip of Florida, the south was still bombarded with an average of 10.36 inches of rain. The South Florida Water Management District said it was the wettest rainy season in almost half a century. As WPTV News’ Jeff Skrzypek reports, the heavy rain took its toll on roofs everywhere. Tampa Metal Roofing: More Effective for Low-Slope Roofing, Study Shows

arrys1

Metal roofing in Tampa may not be the most affordable option available on the market, but studies have shown that cost is hardly the top priority on most homeowners’ agendas. Many building owners and homeowners prioritize service life and life cycle costs, reports Rodger Russ for Buildings Magazine. Despite the initial cost, metal roofs enjoy widespread use in both residential and commercial applications, as metal roofs provide greater energy savings and resilience even in Tampa’s humid subtropical weather.Read Full Article

Arry’s Roofing Featured in Local Magazine

Over the years, Arry’s Roofing has done a lot to give back to the community. It’s a cornerstone of our entire operation. Now one of our latest efforts has become a Hometown Story in a local magazine as “It’s Your Home” spotlights our involvement in the No Roof Left Behind program here in Pinellas County.

No Roof Left Behind is winding down its voting phase this week, and we’re excited to soon find out which lucky homeowner will receive the free roof.  The official announcement is expected on Monday September 9, but anyone tracking the votes can see we have a clear leading candidate. One of our homeowners in St. Pete has grabbed more than half of the vote.

The story will be featured in the next edition of It’s Your Home Magazine, which distributes a printed copy to homes and businesses in select areas. A digital copy of every issue is also available online. We’ll make sure we post a link to it on the blog, Facebook and Twitter once it’s available.

We’re grateful for the upcoming full-page story in It’s Your Home, and look forward to introducing the wonderful program run by No Roof Left Behind to even more people. The magazine’s own Facebook page will also help spread the word. We invite you to like that page by clicking on the link HERE.

No Roof Left Behind got started on March 1 as the period for nominating a deserving homeowner began. After six months of the program, from nomination to choosing finalists, only days remain until we find out the identity of our free roof winner. Once the actual installation is scheduled, we will begin providing regular updates about the project.

As we continue to find ways to provide community outreach, participation in No Roof Left Behind will be followed up by other efforts to enhance the homes and the lives of our friends and neighbors in Tampa Bay. We also welcome your ideas. Feel free to post them as comments here on the blog page. You can pass along recommendations on our Facebook page too.

Final Week for No Roof Left Behind

One week remains in the voting for No Roof Left Behind to determine which lucky homeowner in Pinellas County will earn a much-needed roof replacement at no cost. A family in St. Petersburg is the front-runner with half the vote collected. Another homeowner in St. Pete trails by fifteen percentage points heading into the final week.

Arry’s Roofing is proud to be a part of this wonderful promotion. Roofing manufacturer GAF is among the national sponsors, joined by Allied Building Products, EagleView Technologies, and Scope Assist by Accurence. Together these companies are making life under a new roof possible for homeowners in Pinellas County and anywhere the No Roof Left Behind promotion is happening.

We don’t have a number of how many people have voted so far but we’re sure many of our friends, neighbors, and customers have not yet cast a vote for one of the four finalists. We strongly encourage you to spend a few minutes today getting acquainted with all four homeowners. Read their stories, and look at their roof and home damage photos. Then vote for the finalist you feel most deserves the free roof.

The voting ends on September 6, which is next Friday. After the weekend of September 7-8, the No Roof Left Behind site will share the news about which homeowner won the free roof. We will make sure we post the news here as well as on our social media pages.

Beyond voting and sharing the page of your favorite finalist, there’s another way you can support the No Roof Left Behind promotion. Organizers accept donations on a page designated for them on the website. Donations may involve time or materials, and you are welcome to make a monetary donation as well.

If you prefer to make your donation directly to a NRLB contractor, contact Arry’s Roofing at 727.362.2230. We welcome calls regarding any kinds of donations that you or your company may be interested in providing. You’re welcome to make it a public donation or let us know if you prefer to keep your donation an anonymous one.

Support for Our Tampa Bay Bucs

We have used our Facebook page and Twitter account on more than one occasion to cheer on the Rays and the Bucs, and show our support for all things Tampa Bay.  So when we hear news that the Bucs have the 29th best fan base in the NFL, out of total of 32 teams, it prompts a lot of us to raise an important question. How do you show your support?

One Tampa Bay Bucs fan site, the Pewter Plank, asked that question to draw from the fans their reaction to the study. We want to do the same. Do you agree with the Bucs’ low rating, just above the Cardinals (5-11), the Falcons (13-3), and the Raiders (4-12), or do you believe it should be higher?

Attendance is not the only measurement of a team’s fan base, according to the group conducting the study. You may recall the 2012 attendance at Bucs home games was considerably lower than the capacity at Raymond James Stadium. On Week 16, the attendance for the Rams game was only a bit over 51,000, down from nearly 65,000 on Week 14 when the Bucs hosted the Eagles. That was the season-high number for attendance, by the way, and the only game to draw more than 60,000 fans.

Of course, the fan base goes far beyond Tampa Bay. Our fans are coast-to-coast, cheering on the Bucs in stadiums, homes, and sports bars in every major city and a whole lot of small towns too. They’ll be cheering on Saturday night as preseason action continues against the Dolphins and again on August 29 as we host the Redskins.

On September 8, the Bucs open the 2013 season on the road facing the Jets in New York. The following week the team returns to Tampa Bay in a matchup against the Saints. After a trip to New England, the Bucs host the Cardinals on Sunday September 29 before a Week 5 Bye.

As we look ahead to the game against the Dolphins this weekend, share with us the ways you’ll be supporting the Bucs throughout 2013. Post a comment here on the Arry’s Roofing blog page, Tweet us @arrysroofing, or share your thoughts on our Facebook page. Go Bucs!

A No Roof Left Behind Update

After two full weeks, the voting portion of No Roof Left Behind is in full swing. People are checking out the finalists, and making their selection. We’re also seeing comments of support on the pages of each homeowner, and it appears the pages are getting shared through various social media sites.

There are a few more weeks to the voting but we’re encouraging our customers, friends, and neighbors to cast their votes early. The voting process is simple and takes less than a few minutes to complete. You just need to visit the No Roof Left Behind page, review each homeowner’s story and photos, then enter your name and email address on the finalist’s page you’re supporting.

Although this portion of the No Roof Left Behind promotion is strictly for Pinellas County, voters can be anywhere. So spread the word to your friends and business contacts, if you wish. Let them know about a terrific way to help a deserving family here in Florida receive a free roof from a top roofing contractor you have done business with here.

As of Sunday August 18, our two St. Petersburg finalists are leading the way with 43% and 37% of the vote. Our two Clearwater finalists check in at 11% and 9%, respectively. But there’s much more time left for voting and we could see a dramatic shift before voting ends on September 6.

The winning homeowner will be revealed on September 9, and the announcement will happen online. As soon as we know the winner’s name, we will share it on the Arry’s Roofing Facebook page, through our Twitter account, and on our blog page as well. The 9th is a Monday so we look forward to starting that work week with great news to share.

Arry’s Roofing invites you to make time today to get acquainted with the finalists, if you haven’t done so already. Determine who you think deserves a free roof most, based on the stories you read and the photos you can examine. Then cast your vote for your favorite finalist, and spread the word.

The No Roof Left Behind Finalists

NRLB_House

The No Roof Left Behind promotion for Pinellas County is now in its first full week of voting. Before the weekend, we got to see which four of the 100+ nominees became the finalists, and it’s down to two homeowners from St. Pete and two from Clearwater. As of this writing, we already have a clear leader too.

One month from today the voting period will end, and a few days later we’ll get the announcement naming the winner. At this point, we want to encourage all of our Arry’s Roofing customers, associates, friends and neighbors to get acquainted with the final four nominees and get your votes in early. We also invite you to share the promotion with others through your social media pages.

Current Leading Homeowner

A St. Petersburg woman is leading the way as of right now with nearly half of the votes. She’s a single mother with three young children who you can see in the photo on her nomination page. Their home is more than forty years old and in desperate need of a new roof.

Next Leading Homeowner

Another St. Pete homeowner has nearly 30% of the vote at this point. It’s actually a couple with a young child, who they describe as “severely disabled.”  The photos they submitted include shots of interior damage in the home, caused by leaks in their failing roof.

The Clearwater Nominees

One of the nominees is a 57 year-old woman whose adult child submitted the nomination. The homeowner is described as a caregiver to others, and she’s been unable to secure a loan to replace her damaged roof. The roof damage has led to leaking, which has made a mess of at least one bedroom in the house.

The other Clearwater homeowner is retired and living under a roof that’s estimated to be more than 50 years old. Damage inside the home is apparent and has caused wood floors there to buckle. The homeowner lost a loved one recently too, adding to the burden of caring for the home.

Once you cast your vote, Arry’s Roofing welcomes you to share that finalists page on our Facebook page and Tweet it to us @arrysroofing. No Roof Left Behind makes that easy to do. Just look below the homeowner’s story for ways to spread the word.

Tampa Bay’s Back-to-School Savings

Expect a rush on school supplies, clothing, and shoes this weekend as parents hit the stores to scoop up items for their families during Florida’s tax-free weekend. If you stayed away from the stores on Friday night, you might want to get an early start on Saturday. You may even find some stores staying open longer to accommodate the increased number of summertime shoppers.

At Arry’s Roofing, we aim to keep our roofing customers informed so they can make the best decisions so we’re spreading the word about the tax-free weekend to help those same customers who are shopping for back-to-school needs now. One important bit of news to pass along is the inclusion of personal computers and tablets this year. Those items, plus keyboards and other related accessories, priced at $750 or less are now eligible for the tax exemption.

The limit on each item of clothing is $75. Keep in mind, it does not need to be for a student to be an eligible item. Individuals and couples can enjoy the same savings as families.

School supplies are eligible at a lower limit. Any qualifying school supply item of $15 or less is tax-exempt this weekend. That makes it an ideal time to stock up on notebooks, crayons, pencils, and whatever else your students will need this fall.

There’s no shortage of great shopping experiences throughout Tampa Bay anytime of the year, but this weekend will be driving a whole lot more people to the malls and department stores to take advantage of the tax-free deal on all those eligible items. The savings could be considerable, and smart shoppers are likely to find some additional deals on select items during their trips to the stores this weekend.

Before you leave the house, get all the information you need to make those informed decisions by reviewing the pdf created for this special tax-free weekend. The nine-page document is easy to read and covers all pertinent topics, including rain checks, rentals, and layaway sales. On page 6 of that pdf, you’ll begin to see the list of taxable and tax-exempt items. Take a moment to look for items on your shopping list to see which one they fall under.

Once you’ve made your tax-free purchases in Tampa Bay, let Arry’s Roofing know how the experience went. Post your savings, best deals, or favorite finds  on our Facebook page or Tweet it to us @arrysroofing. We wish you a safe and satisfying Sales Tax Holiday Weekend.
