Another Wet June in Tampa Bay

A year ago the wettest June on record kept life pretty soggy around Tampa Bay. More than 18 inches of rain fell then. While only half that amount has been recorded so far this month, we’re still above average for rainfall again.

Heading into the weekend, a trace over nine inches has already fallen and we have one more week to go. As the new week begins, we’ll see the rain threat continue for a few days, almost ensuring that will go into double digits for a rainfall total this month. The question is, how is your Tampa Bay home handling the surplus of precipitation?

Thanks to the No Roof Left Behind promotion, we’re discovering a lot of homeowners are enduring life under roofs that are far less than adequate. Some of the homeowners mention great concern about leaks and roof instability, especially as we move through another hurricane season. Putting off the need for repair or replacement could inevitably lead to a worst case scenario so it’s a good time for us to remind our friends and neighbors to be pro-active in July.

If you already recognize developing issues with your Tampa Bay roof, calling in the experts immediately should be a top priority in the coming week. In some cases, repair of your existing roofing system may be all that’s required. If you have put it off for a long time, neglecting the warning signs, total roof replacement is more likely the required move and your home may have already sustained damage beyond the roof, including structural damage.

Some homeowners, including those who have never hired a roofing contractor, may be unaware how to detect roofing issues. On the Arry’s Roofing site, we list nine signs that tell you a new roof is necessary. Here they are again for a quick review.

9 Signs You Need a New Roof

1.      Shingles or tiles are cracked, curled, worn or missing

2.      Granule loss from asphalt shingles

3.      Split wood shingles

4.      Mold or moss growth

5.      Leaks, stains or spotting on interior ceilings

6.      Staining of rafters or in attic space

7.      Streaks along exterior home walls

8.      Expired roof warranties

9.      Storm damage
