Safety First for Tampa Roofers

Anyone feeling superstitious on Friday the 13th? We have the added appearance of a full moon on this particular day that might make some people feel extra jittery. But Arry’s Roofing doesn’t believe in good luck or bad luck regarding the safety of our crews, only preparation and execution.

Safety first is not something you’ll just hear spoken around here. It’s part of the culture. In fact, we devoted time to safety training today with our entire staff present for the session.

Quality Inn in Tarpon Springs hosted this important safety training session and we turned to an expert in the field to present to us. David Ibanez from US Safety in Fort Myers made the presentation to the Arry’s Roofing group, and we’re grateful for the time and insight.

Roofers, like any home improvement contractors, must stay informed regarding the ever-changing nature of safety rules and regulations as we fine tune our own policies and procedures. Not every contractor does the same thing. You may be surprised to find out many roofing contractors don’t have any safety rules to follow. That can lead to injuries to workers on your property or even worse. It can also lead to property damage that you end up paying for if that contractor isn’t insured.

The next time you hire Arry’s Roofing to repair your Tampa roof or install a new one, take a note of the safety protocol that’s apparent. We encourage you to even make a mention of it in any review you share on our site or any of our social media pages. We feel it’s important to protect our employees, our customers and our community so it remains a top priority for us.

As you consider the need for safety related to your Tampa roofers, take a moment to think about the safety measures you have in place for your own workplace and even your own home. What are you doing to make sure everyone under your roof stays safe day to day and how are you minimizing risk on the job?

We invite you to share any safety-related thoughts with us on this page or any of our social media pages. If we just completed work on your Tampa roof, let us know what you think of our “safety first” approach.

Hot Times in Tampa This Summer

Summer will be a hot time in Tampa but it’s not the temperatures we’re talking about. The offerings in the area are beyond compare, and we hope you’ll get plenty of time to get away from work and out of the house to enjoy the best of the season here. While we’ll be ready for any roofing issue that may arise, Arry’s Roofing wishes you a stress-free summer and have a few ideas of how you can spend some of it.

We’re hoping to see the Tampa Bay Rays get hot this summer in the A.L. East and climb to the top of the division by September 1. Along the way, the team is offering some terrific promotional items, including Ben Zobrist Plastic Bat & Ball Set for the kids on Sunday June 22, a Rays umbrella on Friday July 11, and a set of two Joe Maddon wine glasses on Friday August 1. Joan Jett even plays post-game after the Saturday July 12 game against the Blue Jays.

While there are no shortage of family-friendly festivities for July 4th weekend in Tampa Bay, here’s an Independence Day option for adult singles, couples and groups. It’s a dinner cruise departing from Tampa and Clearwater. Board at Tampa from 603 Channelside Drive at 6:30 pm or from 25 Causeway Blvd., Slip #55 in Clearwater at 7:00 pm. You can visit the Yacht StarShip site for more details, including pricing.

Here’s a summer event making its debut in Tampa Bay …. because it couldn’t be held anywhere else with a name like Tampapalooza. The Florida State Fairgrounds hosts this first-time event on Saturday August 2 from 10 am to 6 pm, and it’s definitely going to be fun for the whole family. The focus is all local, and you can enjoy local music, local food, and much more at no charge. That’s right. The event and parking for it are free.

If you have a summertime recommendation for things to do in Tampa, Arry’s Roofing invites you to share it with us. You can post it in a comment below, tweet it to us @arrysroofing, or post it on our Facebook page. Wherever your travels take you this summer, we wish you a safe and satisfying season filled with memories to last a lifetime.

Next Chance for a Free Roof in Tampa Bay

Your name could be mentioned alongside Cody Hughes and Linda Hunsinger this year as the next winner of a free roof installed by Arry’s Roofing. We’re getting ready to do No Roof Left Behind all over again and we’re eager to see more submissions from friends and neighbors like you. Let’s get you rolling early and point out some key dates to keep in mind.

The next edition of No Roof Left Behind gets started on June 1. Nominations are welcome after that date and you have until September 1 to complete them. Nominate yourself or nominate someone you know. It’s up to you.

Once the nomination period is over, much of September will be devoted to determining which nominees are the most worthy of receiving a free roof. The four finalists will be chosen by September 20 and you’ll have a month to vote for your favorite. Voting wraps up on October 19.

Friday October 24 is the day reserved for announcing our next No Roof Left Behind winner in Tampa Bay. That homeowner will join our previous winners, Cody and Linda, as a free roof recipient on Saturday November 8 when our crew arrives for installation day. As we did before, we’ll create a whole family-friendly event for that day and invite all members of the Arry’s Roofing family, including you, to join us in celebrating our latest winner.

For now, here’s how you can get started. Visit the NRLB page for submission details. Make sure the homeowner you’re submitting is eligible by carefully reading the rules. Also, develop a strong story about your nominee and why he or she truly deserves this kind of help. Remember, the more heartfelt and personal you make the story, the more attention and support it’s likely to receive.

Photo evidence of roof wear and tear or damage is very important. Take several good photos documenting the condition of the roof so you can post them on your submission page. You want to give visitors to the NRLB page a clear view of what’s wrong with the roof so evaluate each photo before using it.

Arry’s Roofing is pleased to be a part of this wonderful program. We thank everyone who contributes to it, supports it, and lends a hand and materials on the installation day. It’s great to see so many good people come together to make a difference in the lives of everyone under one roof.

Preparing for Hurricane Season in Tampa Bay

June 1 marks the beginning of the Atlantic Hurricane Season and the next couple weeks are a good time to prepare yourself and your home for the potential of damaging tropical weather this summer. As a leading Tampa roofer, we encourage our friends and neighbors to take the necessary steps to reduce personal risk and property damage during the next six months. We’ll help you get started right now by understanding how to prepare, how to survive, and how to repair or replace should damage occur.

One mistake people often make is finding comfort in the estimate of a below-average hurricane season. Fewer named storms don’t mean it’s time to relax. Preparation is just as important. You still want to create a plan for hunkering down and evacuating, stock up on supplies, and assess the current condition of your roof with the help of your trusted professional roofer.

Taking a few minutes to discuss hurricane season with your family members can be a valuable step as you get everyone involved and on the same page. To help you get started, here’s an abbreviated list of steps to follow in the next couple of weeks. You can customize this list based on your own needs.

  1. Download an app to get weather alerts and tracking information on your phone.
  2. Contact a licensed and insured roofing professional to assess your roof’s current condition.
  3. Stock up on supplies, including flashlights, bottled water, non-perishable food and batteries. Include food and water for pets.
  4. Choose an interior room in your home for hunkering down during the storm.
  5. Choose a method of communication for your family to use once a hurricane is approaching. Keeping all communication on “one channel” is essential. Free apps, such as WhatsApp and Voxer, allow you to text to a group of people using the app for free.
  6. Plan for a potential evacuation and select a meeting spot should family members get separated.
  7. Select a licensed and insured roofing professional to contact should you need emergency repairs following hurricane or tropical storm damage.

Arry’s Roofing invites you to share your family’s tips with us. Comment below this blog post, Tweet us @arrysroofing, or post a pic of your family and your tip on our Facebook page

No Roof Left Behind Profiled by Good Life Tampa Bay

If you missed attending our No Roof Left Behind installation day at the home of Cody Hughes and his wife Andrea, we have a terrific video to share with you this week. The event got special attention from Good Life Tampa Bay. In a video posted on YouTube, Rebekah Wood shares the couple’s story of entering the promotion, and our expert work gets showcased.

You can find the No Roof Left Behind video on the Arry’s Roofing YouTube page. As you check it out, you’ll hear from Cody and Andrea who express their thanks and appreciation for the new roof and all the support. You’ll also hear from Arry Housh, Becky Housh, Matt Housh, Stephen Housh and Cathy Koutsonikas.  Linda Hunsinger, last year’s No Roof Left Behind winner, makes an appearance in the video, too.

We’re pleased to see on camera time for folks who donated materials, including Marcie Quian from Allied Building Products who partnered with GAF to get those materials to the Hughes family. In addition, Michael and Jesse Bozarth from Bozarth Construction appear in the video thanks to installation of energy-efficient windows from Custom Windows for the Hughes home.

The No Roof Left Behind video from Good Life Tampa Bay gives you plenty of up close looks at the roof installation going on that day. We’re especially fond of the neat little time lapses of some of the work being done. You’ll see a couple of them during the 4-minute video.

Do us a favor and share the video link once you watch it. It’s easy to share the link to Facebook, Twitter and most social media pages directly from the YouTube page. If you enjoy what you see, give it a Like, too. You’re also welcome to leave a comment on the video page.

We’re pleased to see so many good people come together to make the No Roof Left Behind experience for Cody and Andrea Hughes even more special. We’ll be doing it all again soon, too. Perhaps the next time around will find you in the winning home.

Tampa Roofers Announce No Roof Left Behind Winner

The latest edition of No Roof Left Behind in Pinellas County has come to the big moment of revealing the winning homeowner. After weeks of voting, our winning entry came from Tampa’s Cody Hughes. The announcement came this morning, April 18, and we’re excited to share the news with every member of the Arry’s Roofing family.

Mr. Hughes was among four finalists selected out of dozens of nominees and his story about needing a dry place to bring baby to from a neonatal intensive care unit in the area moved a lot of people. The Deep Creek Lane resident shared the story on the No Roof Left Behind page as part of his nomination. If you didn’t get a chance to read it, take a moment to do so below.

Two years ago, Citizens said they wouldn’t be renewing my policy. I’ve owned the home for 2.5 years. Cancellation resulted in bank taking out their own policy which costs $500-$600 more per month, for less coverage. We could barely save for the roof due to higher mortgage cost. Then our daughter was born. Unfortunately, she was born with her intestines outside her body(gastroschisis)which required immediate surgery, and currently, she is in her 2nd month stay in the newborn intensive-care unit, covered in sensors&feeding tubes. Her immune system is compromised, and our saved money is gone to hospital bills, which will not be enough to cover 1/4 of it. Final bill projected over $25,000. I cannot bring our poor girl home to this moldy, allergy -filled environment. In addition to patches, there is a 15×15 section that fell though(patched),over her room and the other side of the house will fall soon!

The family won’t have to wait long for the new roof. Arry’s Roofing has scheduled the installation for Saturday May 3 with an 8 am start time. You’re invited, too. We welcome you to join us at 15827 Deep Creek Lane, Tampa, FL 33624 for the celebration. Of course, we won’t ask you to do any heavy lifting. Just come, meet the family, show your support, and enjoy the experience.

While this edition of No Roof Left Behind is drawing to a close, there’s much more you can do to get involved. When you visit the page with the winning entry, you’ll notice below the installation address a question that asks, “Your Favorite Didn’t Win?” To the right of it, you’ll see two buttons that allow you to either participate in future events or make a donation. If you wish you donate on the local level, contact Arry’s Roofing to get started. You can also make a donation on the national level.

Once again, we congratulate our latest No Roof Left Behind winner in Pinellas County. Arry’s Roofing looks forward to the big installation day on May 3. We hope to see as many of you out there, if only for a short visit.

Triple Excellence Awards & More for Tampa Roofer

For the tenth time, Arry’s Roofing has earned the trio of excellence awards from GAF, North America’s largest roofing manufacturer. It’s an achievement we’re extremely proud of, and it’s made possible by every member of the Arry’s Roofing family, including you. So this week, we dedicate a little time to sharing the news about this latest achievement.

In a letter from Brendon Lipton, the SE Regional Manager for the Certified Contractor Program, each Excellence Award we earned is explained. He outlined the Consumer Protection, Training, and Installation Excellence and we’ll post the descriptions below to give you a clear sense of each one.

Consumer Protection – This award recognizes those contractors that best protect their clients with m system selling and enhanced warranties. The contractor must register a minimum of 100 enhanced warranties in a calendar year. Arry’s Roofing finished 1st in the Southeast and 5th in the U.S. in this category.

Training Excellence – This award is for contractors that are committed to training and continuous improvement. A minimum of 10 employees must pass the Pro Field Guide Test or attend a CARE Seminar.

Installation Excellence – This award is for contractors that consistently install with a very high level of quality. Must have a minimum of 15 perfect 10 installation scores which Arry’s had over 200 perfect 10’s.

FYI: Arry’s Roofing has maintained an average installation score of 9.86 out of 10 which places us in the top 10 Roofing Contractors in the United States.

Another honor we’re pleased to share with every member of the Arry’s Roofing family is our bringing home the 2013 President’s Club Award. We’re among only 45 roofing contractors in the nation to do so, and it was earned by receiving more than 200 “perfect 10” inspection scores. That’s the highest number received by any roofer in the country.

You may already know Arry’s Roofing is a Master Elite Contractor with GAF. Only the top 2% of roofing contractors in the country can make this statement. The requirements to earn Master Elite status include, being in business for a minimum of 7 years, possessing an “A” standing with the BBB, being financially secure, maintaining a good standing with Material Distributers, and maintaining an 8 out of 10 Installation Inspection score.  Because Arry’s meets these requirements, we can offer a GAF Golden Pledge Warranty. A Golden Pledge Warranty is a 50-year, non-prorated Material Warranty and carries a 25-year Workmanship Warranty.

Again, we credit the wonderful team at Arry’s Roofing and every one of our valued customers for making these honors possible. If we haven’t handled roof repair or replacement yet at your Tampa Bay home, give us a call and see for yourself how we earned each one of these accolades from GAF.

The Housh family, Arry, Becky and Stephen, gets congratulated by Jim Slauson, Vice President, Certified Program and Services, GAF Materials Corporation (second from left) during the GAF Excellence Awards ceremony held at Wild Dunes Resort in Isle of Palms, SC.

Vote for a Free Roof Winner in Tampa Bay

Today the next phase of No Roof Left Behind in Tampa Bay gets underway. It’s the day our nominee list got cut down to four homeowners and voting begins. Between now and April 13, you have a chance to vote for your favorite finalist and spread the word to get him or her more support.

Meet the NRLB Tampa Bay Finalists.

Each of our finalists comes from a different part of Tampa Bay. Redington Beach, St. Pete, Seminole and Tampa are each represented by a homeowner hoping to receive a free roof from No Roof Left Behind and Arry’s Roofing.  Their stories differ. Truck Driving Jim’s home is uninhabitable.  A single mom says she’s bought her first home but it needs a new roof. A cancer patient is dealing with high medical bills and no money for proper roof repair or replacement. The fourth finalist is a parent with a sick infant who can’t be brought home due to a deteriorating roof.

Vote for your favorite NRLB homeowner.

Once you visit the NRLB Arry’s Roofing page, you can read the stories, view the photos, and submit a vote for the homeowner you support. Voting takes less than a minute. Simply type in your name and email address. You can also click the box to be notified when future updates are ready.

Share the NRLB Tampa Bay news.

Voting matters so getting the word out is critical for each homeowner. From each finalist’s page, you can share the link on social media pages, including Facebook and Twitter. On the left side of each finalist’s page, you can leave a comment and post it directly to Facebook.

Voting lasts only 17 days so Arry’s Roofing encourages you to take some time today to get your vote submitted and share the link. The winning homeowner will be revealed on April 18 followed by the Installation Celebration on May 3.

Arry’s Roofing will be handling the installation, of course, and we will have more details about the big celebration day once we get a little closer to installation day. We’ll invite you to be a part of the event as we come together to change the lives of people in the winning home. Get that voting done now and we’ll see you on May 3.
