Expanded Shopping Tax Break Benefits Tampa Bay

If you’ve had more than your share of repair issues at home this year, it’s possible you have gone overbudget fixing or replacing necessary items. In that case, you’ll certainly want to take advantage of Florida’s tax holiday weekend coming up. The three-day event will give you a chance to trim back-to-school expenses on an expanded number of products this year.

Let’s take a look at the changes from last year and what you can plan to save on when you shop on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Keep in mind, the sales tax may differ depending on the county in which you shop. Many of our friends and neighbors pay 7 percent inside counties such as Pinellas and Pasco.

ONE BIG CHANGE: Last year the state considered clothing and shoes up to $75.00 eligible. This year any individual clothing item or pair of shoes up to $100 is eligible.

SCHOOL SUPPLIES: Anything up to $15 is within the list of eligible items.

COMPUTERS: These big-ticket items only become taxed this weekend above an initial $750 mark.

ELECTRONICS: Your purchase of a tablet, e-book reader, desktop computer or laptop is part of the tax break along with computer accessories. Video games, cell phones and TVs are not on the list.

If you have seen any ads, flyers, or commercials lately, you’ll know retailers are doing their part to drive more foot traffic to their stores by offering additional deals during the tax holiday weekend in Florida. We encourage you to shop wisely and take advantage of any extra discounts and deals on items you need during this 3-day period. You might rack up a considerable savings and ease the financial burden at home.

We’re interested in how you approach a weekend like this one. What are your key strategies to shopping during a tax holiday in Florida? What tips would you share with other individuals and families? Post them here on the blog page.

Once the tax holiday weekend is over, we invite you to share your success stories with us. What item did you save the most money on? How much did you save overall? Let us and our blog readers know by posting a comment on our blog page or on our Facebook page. In the meantime, Arry’s Roofing wishes each one of you a rewarding weekend of shopping adventures.

Remodel Your Tampa Home Virtually

For newcomers to the Arry’s Roofing blog, you may have noticed our connection to GAF. We mention the company often as we our a certified installer of its roofing products. The company has even awarded us for our excellence on multiple occasions. So we want to take another opportunity to direct our blog readers, especially those planning for a new roof installation, to a terrific resource on the GAF site.

The GAF site is packed with resources for both residential customers and contractors. To get to the Virtual Home Remodeler, first click on Residential Roofing on the top of the page. A list of options will immediately appear. Look to the right side for Planning Your Roof Project then scan down until you see Virtual Home Remodeler and click on it.

During this process, you may be asked for your zip code. Be sure to enter the one where you anticipate having the work done. It allows the site to customize the options available in that specific market.

As you click through the roof shingle options available, you’ll see the look of a 2-story house with an attached garage change. Camelot is the first option and you can scroll all the way down until you reach Woodland. To the left of the house image, you’ll see a comment from one of two HGTV experts. Below that, you will see a place to customize your own home, if that’s something you want to do, too.

Beyond the comparison of roofing shingles, you can continue to use the Virtual Home Remodeler to assess trim colors as well as brick and siding. Once you’re done making your choices, you can save a project or print a project. You could create several projects and save them in a folder on the site for later review and sharing.

The Virtual Home Remodeler provides an easy way to see how you can make a big difference in the way your home looks with just a few clicks. Of course, the work to follow is a bit more involved. But once you have a clear idea of what you want, you can begin the process of making sure your GAF-certified roofing contractor is there to guide you along the way, providing a free estimate and licensed and insured work until the job is completed to your satisfaction.

A Cleaner Tampa Bay Roof

Summer demands will take you in all directions. Whether you’re traveling, hosting family and friends, or keeping the kids occupied, you have plenty to keep you busy for the next two months. But it can also be a good time to take care of some other important business too, ensuring your roof remains clean.

Before you actually look at the dirt and debris on your roof, you can imagine it. You may have trees in the yard adding to the problem or perhaps you live by a highway where cars whip up dust and dirt that end up on top of you. Literally.

Rain will help a bit. A strong breeze can clear some twigs off the roof, too. But a proper cleaning is still necessary to maintain your roof’s good condition throughout the season and the rest of the year.

The benefits go way beyond the appearance of your roof. Sure, that’s the first thing other people will notice, but you’ll enjoy the added value that comes with a clean roof. We have a few of those benefits to highlight right here.

One benefit of a professional roof cleaning is energy savings. That’s right. Heat is reflected off a clean roof while dirty roofs draw in the heat.

Another benefit of a clean roof is a higher property value. You can also ensure your roof doesn’t age or wear prematurely due to growth on it. That’s a long-term savings for you to enjoy.

The tree debris on there right now could be slowly causing cracks in your roofing system. A clean roof doesn’t allow the debris to create future problems. In addition, without the mold, fungi and other harmful foreign matter on your roof, it’s a healthier environment for you and your family.

Your roof cleaning should never compromise the integrity of the roof, harm its appearance, or create a hazardous situation for you personally. That’s why it’s important to rely on a professional licensed and insured contractor to help you maintain the look and the life of your home’s biggest investment. Sure, you have a lot on your plate this summer but this is one more thing to add that won’t really demand much time or attention. In fact, you can schedule a free estimate quickly and easily. Just call Arry’s Roofing at (727) 938-9565 today.

Tampa Roofing Stories Made Stronger

Telling a good story is always important. Whether you’re entertaining your kids or selling an idea to a client, the ability to make a strong impression is highly beneficial. That’s why we want to help you tell a memorable story when nominating a homeowner for the next edition of No Roof Left Behind

1. Make It Personal
The story shouldn’t sound like it could be about just anybody. Consider what stands out about the homeowner or the family nominated. While you avoid sharing details the nominee may not want made public, go beyond facts to give it a personal touch.

2. Create a Catchy Title
What’s the most compelling part of your nominee’s story? Figure out what will get attention and use it to come up with a strong title that elicits an emotional response from visitors to the NRLB site.

3.  Write It Like You Would Say It
If writing is not a strong skill for you, try telling the story to a friend and record what you say. This approach can help you avoid a writing style that’s too formal and lacking feeling.

4. Give Your Story a Beginning, Middle, & End
Every good story has this structure so use it to introduce your nominee, explain the roofing situation, and ask for support. That final part often gets overlooked. Making the direct request to support your nominee and spread the word can pay off in getting more awareness of the homeowner’s urgent need for a new roof.

5. Support Your Story with Photos
Use the photos as part of a 1-2 punch in your story. What you describe as a problem with your nominee’s roofing should be evident in the photos you submit. Take multiple photos and show close-ups of any damage or leaks. Also, show any impact on the interior of the home.

The nomination period lasts through September 1 so take your time to effectively prepare for creating your nominee’s story, whether your intention is to help a friend, a neighbor or even yourself. Once your finish nominating a homeowner, let others know. Use the hashtag #NRLB on Facebook and Twitter. You can also share it by Tweeting us @arrysroofing and posting it to our Facebook page.

Safety First for Tampa Roofers

Anyone feeling superstitious on Friday the 13th? We have the added appearance of a full moon on this particular day that might make some people feel extra jittery. But Arry’s Roofing doesn’t believe in good luck or bad luck regarding the safety of our crews, only preparation and execution.

Safety first is not something you’ll just hear spoken around here. It’s part of the culture. In fact, we devoted time to safety training today with our entire staff present for the session.

Quality Inn in Tarpon Springs hosted this important safety training session and we turned to an expert in the field to present to us. David Ibanez from US Safety in Fort Myers made the presentation to the Arry’s Roofing group, and we’re grateful for the time and insight.

Roofers, like any home improvement contractors, must stay informed regarding the ever-changing nature of safety rules and regulations as we fine tune our own policies and procedures. Not every contractor does the same thing. You may be surprised to find out many roofing contractors don’t have any safety rules to follow. That can lead to injuries to workers on your property or even worse. It can also lead to property damage that you end up paying for if that contractor isn’t insured.

The next time you hire Arry’s Roofing to repair your Tampa roof or install a new one, take a note of the safety protocol that’s apparent. We encourage you to even make a mention of it in any review you share on our site or any of our social media pages. We feel it’s important to protect our employees, our customers and our community so it remains a top priority for us.

As you consider the need for safety related to your Tampa roofers, take a moment to think about the safety measures you have in place for your own workplace and even your own home. What are you doing to make sure everyone under your roof stays safe day to day and how are you minimizing risk on the job?

We invite you to share any safety-related thoughts with us on this page or any of our social media pages. If we just completed work on your Tampa roof, let us know what you think of our “safety first” approach.

Next Chance for a Free Roof in Tampa Bay

Your name could be mentioned alongside Cody Hughes and Linda Hunsinger this year as the next winner of a free roof installed by Arry’s Roofing. We’re getting ready to do No Roof Left Behind all over again and we’re eager to see more submissions from friends and neighbors like you. Let’s get you rolling early and point out some key dates to keep in mind.

The next edition of No Roof Left Behind gets started on June 1. Nominations are welcome after that date and you have until September 1 to complete them. Nominate yourself or nominate someone you know. It’s up to you.

Once the nomination period is over, much of September will be devoted to determining which nominees are the most worthy of receiving a free roof. The four finalists will be chosen by September 20 and you’ll have a month to vote for your favorite. Voting wraps up on October 19.

Friday October 24 is the day reserved for announcing our next No Roof Left Behind winner in Tampa Bay. That homeowner will join our previous winners, Cody and Linda, as a free roof recipient on Saturday November 8 when our crew arrives for installation day. As we did before, we’ll create a whole family-friendly event for that day and invite all members of the Arry’s Roofing family, including you, to join us in celebrating our latest winner.

For now, here’s how you can get started. Visit the NRLB page for submission details. Make sure the homeowner you’re submitting is eligible by carefully reading the rules. Also, develop a strong story about your nominee and why he or she truly deserves this kind of help. Remember, the more heartfelt and personal you make the story, the more attention and support it’s likely to receive.

Photo evidence of roof wear and tear or damage is very important. Take several good photos documenting the condition of the roof so you can post them on your submission page. You want to give visitors to the NRLB page a clear view of what’s wrong with the roof so evaluate each photo before using it.

Arry’s Roofing is pleased to be a part of this wonderful program. We thank everyone who contributes to it, supports it, and lends a hand and materials on the installation day. It’s great to see so many good people come together to make a difference in the lives of everyone under one roof.
